I’ve been busy, Oppo, what with moving into college and preparing for what is sure to be a difficult first semester of college (I haven’t gone easy on myself with my class selection). So I thought I would drop by with some deeply terrible cars I’ve seen.
First up is this confusing Hyundai Sonata. The camo wrap is at least well done but that landau roof is just entirely tasteless and sloppily done.
I’m just confused here. It’s so terrible.
That poor poor Ford . It didn’t deserve to get donked. And you can’t see it very well in this photo but the spare tire in a side mounted case didn’t fit properly due to being waaaaaaaay too large and it just looked stupid.
Sigh, Fintail pointed out this is a 63 Chevy. I really should have known better.
This Ram, ugh, there is so much going on here. I don’t like the glossy pearlescent gold wrap, but I can respect it. Those wheels? They are a crime against humanity.
Chevy Nova? At least it doesn’t require eye bleach. Lots of modern muscle cars in the city but few classic ones. More than you might expect, but still far outnumbered by modern Mustangs, Challengers, and Chargers.
Fintail pointed out that this is a 68-69 Chevelle.
Some sort of private security still using a previous generation ex-police Ford Crown Victoria. Other than a single taxi used in Marieta’s taxi fleet, these older panther platforms have pretty much disappeared from the roads.
I was surprised to see one with intact clearcoat and very little body damage downtown.
Notice the streetcar tracks to the right. Atlanta reinstated their streetcars a few years ago, but ridership is still pretty low.
Hmmm rattle canned black unmarked bus slowly making circles around the block chock full of unmasked people. . .
. . . your guess is as good as mine.
The rare Scion Rolla (as it said on the back), spotted in the wild. I’m very impressed that they even got scion wheels and rebadged the steering wheel.
Ok, this one is actually very well done. License plate “L O W,” absolutely slammed suspension, and BMW’s wonderful unapologetically red paint. And coupe. Everything about this 4 series is so right (except the slushbox).
Except this BMW had a party trick. Later that day I heard a very nice rumbly exhaust and turned to see it drive past at a much higher suspension setting. Yes, I’m pretty sure this is on air suspension.
A nicely restored Chevy Panel Van at the World of Coca Cola in downtown Atlanta. Except it has a twist! This is an Argentinian market van!
Neat story there!
This is an exciting time in my life right now; freshman year of college at my dream school during an unprecedented pandemic. I’ve already met tons of new people and even have the beginnings of new friend groups and classes don’t even start until Monday. I’ve kinda been a little too busy for Oppo recently.
Let’s end this long rambling post with a question; which car would you drive home in? Gotta be that BMW 4 series coupe for me even if it is a slushbox.

A. That POOR POOR POOR RAM....
B. That poor BMW....I’m not a huge fan of cars lowered that low, especially f they look pretty much completely stock otherwise...
C. That’s a
5th-gen Hyundai Sonata
, not an Elantra! :P

OK I gotta say I love the nova. My uncle had one for a while that he drag raced, it was rad. My parents also had a nova... but it was the econobox corolla rebrand. Booooo .

The newest that Crown Vic could possibly be is 23 years old, pretty amazing. I’ve seen a pre-98 Town Car in taxi markings still running around the beach towns, definitely testaments to the durability of the platform. I can say with a fair amount of confidence that there are no GM B-bodies from the era still being used for commercial purposes, even though they actually outsold the Fords for fleet use back in the day.

What would I drive home in? Clearly the Nova or the panel van, but couldn't tell you which without knowing which (if either) is a stick.

There actually are a few Chevy Caprice wagons still rolling around that look pretty good, but yes definitely none used commercially as a source of income.
Seriously, apart from some slight scuffs the Vic was shockingly good

Sorry, I’ll correct. Like you said in the other thread though, that doesn’t change the fact that is is highly questionable and entirely tasteless.
The BMW, well, I wouldn’t do that to it myself but it was very well done and nicely inconspicuous other than the color.
The Ram was bad but not as bad as that classic F100 that had been donked. That was the real crime.

Most stuff with crazy stance is bagged. If something is on the road and has that type of stance it’s assured it’s on air, because it’d be undrivable static.
Cool shots! Donk everything though.

Slight restomod look on the period correct wheels and otherwise stock is a nice departure from the modded to death ones you usually see. Love it!

No, please don’t donk everything. Isn’t the F100 proof enough? And the Ram is not quite as bad but still bad. If any of those should have been donked the camo wrapped landau roofed Sonata could pull it off.

Panel van was a stick, probably three speeds. Cool ride.
Nova was too far away to tell. I think you’d pull off the bright yellow classic van better.

Sold!

The BMW is a crime against nature. The “Scion” is an interesting choice given that it is a dead brand. Turning a Camaro into a Pontiac Firebird? Our hearts leap ... but a Toyota into a Scion? Yeah yeah, sure sure, if you have money for the badges.

Nova is a 68-69 Chevelle
Ford donk trunk appears to be a ~63 Chevy
Scion Rolla amuses me most, why bother? Someone had a lot of spare time.

Dang it I never get the old stuff right. I even looked up both Chevy and Ford pickup trucks because I couldn’t tell and somehow I decided it was a Ford. Sigh. I’ll correct them.
I figure the Scion Rolla started with the wheels as OEM replacements and then the rest was probably a joke. Pretty funny actually.

Well, turns out it was a Chevelle but my point stands.

What? The BMW was actually nice. I would never buy one like that but it was one of the better executed custom jobs I’ve seen recently. The car really was a great combination of subtle and clearly expensive.
The Scion Rolla is just a fun joke. Probably started with the wheels but I wouldn’t be ashamed to drive that. At least they swapped the steering wheel badge so it actually is complete.

Clearly, your priorities are askew.

How is that? Maybe the Chevelle would be a better pick than the Bimmer.

You’re close though! Mostly on the right track. This stuff takes time, you’ll learn :)

Nope, donk em all

Blasphemy!
